Practical guide

Sounds, hotkeys and Stream Deck

Prepare sound pads and shortcuts, including what works when iTok is in the background.

What you will be able to doA sound works from its Play control and its intended shortcut, with a verified broadcast audio route.

Before you start

  • Audio you own or have permission to use.
  • The iTok app or browser in which you plan to run the show.

Prepare the sound on the right device

Use Sounds to find, favorite or import a supported audio file such as MP3 or WAV. Audition it from Play and set its level before assigning an event or shortcut.

The general sound library uses storage in the current browser or app. Importing a file in one browser does not automatically put it in another browser’s library. Sounds prepared for alert delivery use their own private upload path. Keep your original audio files backed up.

Assign and check a hotkey

  1. Select the sound, record its shortcut and save the assignment.
  2. Check the displayed registration or conflict state. A key combination already owned by another application may be unavailable.
  3. Try the Play button first, then the shortcut with iTok focused.
  4. For background operation, use the supported Windows desktop feature and test again with another app in front. Browser shortcuts and optional number keys do not establish background support.
  5. After signing out, switching the active control window or changing the shortcut, recheck the current binding rather than assuming the old one remains active.

Add a sound to Stream Deck

In My sounds, choose Add to Stream Deck for a sound. Open the downloaded .streamDeckAction file, select an empty key in Stream Deck and paste. The sound’s audio is included. The current export guidance requires Stream Deck 7.1 or later.

This sound export is not a complete iTok control profile. Keep its label tied to the sound it plays, and check the broadcast audio separately after importing it.

Separate shortcut problems from audio problems

If Play works but the shortcut does not, inspect the binding, focus and conflict state. If neither works, inspect the loaded file, volume and playback state first. If you hear it but viewers do not, capture the soundboard’s device audio in your streaming software and check the mixer.

Scene hotkeys operate iTok’s Starting Soon, current-scene and end-credit controls. They are not a general command to send arbitrary keys into a game or switch every OBS source.

These instructions describe the reviewed iTok beta. Provider access and physical-device behavior still need to be checked in your setup.
